For families battling pediatric cancer, the holidays can feel more overwhelming than joyful. The financial strain of non-medical costs, like gifts and celebrations, makes this time of year even more challenging. Through our Adopt a Family program, we match children with kind donors, our Holiday Angels, to bring hope and happiness during the festive season.
Who are our Holiday Angels?
Holiday Angels are generous donors who partner with us to make the holidays brighter. By shopping for gifts based on children’s and their siblings’ wish lists, they help relieve the burden of holiday expenses, allowing parents to focus on spending quality time with their children.
How it Works
The financial strain and emotional toll of pediatric cancer often leave families with little energy for everyday tasks, including celebrating the holidays. The Adopt a Family program was created to offer support during those times. Here is how it works:
01Finding Families in NeedEvery October, we partner with social workers at CHOP to identify families who could use extra support during the holidays. |
02Matching Families with Holiday AngelsWe match families with our generous Holiday Angels, who liaise with the Michael’s Way team and start shopping for gifts. |
03Giving Gifts and Spreading JoyOur Holiday Angels then ship the unwrapped gifts directly to the matched families, ensuring they arrive just in time for the holidays. |
